Hatred puts every child at risk…
but imagine a world
where Love wins…
Now more than ever, this is the message
that young people need to hear.
As hateful rhetoric surges all around us, it’s critical that youth feel empowered to stand up to bullying and intolerance, whether it’s happening to them or to others. Working with noted DC and Marvel Comics author, Jeremy Holt (DC: Pride, Marvel: Voices, Made In Korea) we have produced a graphic novel that explores how Love overcomes Hate, and affirms that our differences can become a source of strength.
Our first project, the Fast Forward curriculum, was piloted with My Friend's Place, an LA-based organization serving homeless youth, and received overwhelmingly positive feedback. Now we're partnering with the Asian Educators Alliance, Boys and Girls Clubs of Metro Los Angeles, Laguna Beach, and Santa Cruz, and Big Brothers Big Sisters to distribute thousands of free printed copies of Dear Leader, along with a free digital edition. In collaboration with educators, we are also producing a companion workshop curriculum.
Schools and libraries across the country are increasingly using graphic novels to engage young readers and spark meaningful conversation. Research backs this up — a 2023 National Literacy Trust study found that 40% of young people aged 8 to 18 read comics or graphic novels at least once a month.

Why Kindness Matters Now More Than Ever
Leading with compassion and teaching kindness are essential if we want our kids to grow into healthy and responsible adults.
Today, we are facing a crisis that threatens to replace these core values with intolerance; an unsettling reality for us, and an even heavier burden for the next generation.
At the Satyagraha Foundation, we focus on youth empowerment because a young person’s future depends on how supported and confident they feel growing up. Our upcoming graphic novel uses the power of storytelling to explore the challenges they face and inspire hopeful, constructive paths forward.
