Who we are
The Satyagraha Foundation's mission is to support the personal development of marginalized youth by equipping them with the tools and perspectives they need to navigate the world with a greater sense of well-being.
Our primary focus is creating and distributing graphic novels that explore diverse youth identities and experiences. We believe in the power of storytelling to strengthen emotional resilience, compassion, and self-respect — and graphic novels are one of the most effective ways to reach young readers where they are.
Our first graphic novel, Dear Leader, written by Jeremy Holt (DC Pride, Marvel: Voices, Made In Korea) and illustrated by Felipe Cunha, follows a high school student confronting bullying and bigotry head-on — not with aggression, but with compassion and courage. Production is nearing completion, with distribution planned through partners including the Asian Educators Alliance, Boys and Girls Clubs, and Big Brothers Big Sisters.
The Foundation's earlier work includes Fast Forward, a curriculum designed to teach young people conflict resolution, positive communication, and emotional resilience, piloted with My Friend's Place, an LA-based organization serving homeless youth. That experience laid the groundwork for everything we're building now.
